Hiccups

For the past week, my bouts with insomnia has mostly been due to baby hiccups.
Been describing it as a slow consistent heartbeat.  Rhythmic, evenly paced with rarely a pause.  You know when your temples are throbbing from a headache?  Or you feel like you can actually hear your own heart beat after a sprint?  Well, feels just like those palpitations.  Sometimes my entire belly twitches at each hiccup, but right now it's vibrating through my insides all the way to my backside.  Consistent, about every second, for up to 30 minutes

Was told it's all part of Fishy's nervous system development, sending signals to work out her muscles and diaphragm, in anticipation of breathing on her own.  "When the diaphragm contracts, the baby will suck in amniotic fluid and thus cause a hiccup effect. The lungs are not yet fully developed and thus are not used to process oxygen, so drowning or choking cannot occur. There is no danger or discomfort for the baby. Oxygen is still being carried through the umbilical cord."

Currently a nuisance, but a beautiful reminder that I'm growing a healthy baby
